Face ID and Animoji

Sep 19, 2017 | Innovation

Now that we know more about Apple’s new iPhone X, let’s delve into two truly outstanding iPhone X innovations, its Face ID face recognition system and animated emoji, dubbed “Animoji”

The iPhone X discards an already innovative fingerprint ID system for a futuristic “TrueDepth” camera system that bathes your face in more than 30,000 invisible, infra-red dots. As the name implies, TrueDepth produces a face scan that can spot a photo fake, while preventing someone from accessing your iPhone X while asleep.

Perhaps even more remarkable is the use of this front-facing depth camera to help you customize animal emojis. You have already witnessed the tremendous impact Apple’s emoji have had on culture. No media report ever uses Android emoticons to illustrate a social media story. I can’t wait to see what people will conjure up with this amazing technology come November 3.
